This is an event not to be missed”, says Jada H. Smith, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida. For the past 17 years, local individuals and businesses have united to produce one of the biggest food tasting celebrations in Central Florida. Follow our simple recipe for a night of fun that has a lasting impact on the children of our community for years to come: Ingredients: Big Brothers Big Sisters is not your typical organization – and Men Cooking from the Heart is not your typical fundraiser. The annual tasty fundraising event supports the screening and training of adults for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida's four types of programs in Brevard County that assist youth in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become responsible, productive, happy, & healthy young men and women. (1) In the community-based program, an adult is paired one-to-one with a child, age 6-14, to have fun together for a few hours each week in the community. (2) For school-based programs, a working adult visits a child at school or during afterschool care for about an hour per week. (3) The Big Couples program matches married couples with one Little Brother. (4) Mentoring Children of Promise is for children ages 6-17 who have a parent incarcerated in a state or federal prison.
