Erica and Faye were matched through BBBSCFL’s school-based mentoring program almost three years ago. They continue to spend an average of two hours per week together sharing their thoughts, ideas, and laughs, while continually focusing on Erica’s academics.
Erica and Faye’s match is growing strong. Erica’s face lights up when she sees Faye and says that she feels good talking to her and can easily tell her when she is feeling sad or angry.

Faye and Erica have a strong bond between them and can’t imagine life without each other. This bond has made Erica feel safe and she is now open to talking about her family and her feelings. Her academic performance has improved and she is feeling happier with herself and her life. |
Josh and Jack - Match Story |
It took 3 years to find the perfect Big Brother for Josh!
According to Josh & his mother, the wait was worth it. Josh and Jack hit it off immediately. They started talking and sharing similar interests in sports. Jack shared his interest in cars and Josh shared his interest in learning more and more.
Today, 2 years after being matched, Josh and Jack see each other weekly. They spend every Thursday evening together working on homework, playing pool or sports.
What they like the best about their time together is their ability to talk and share what’s going on in each other’s lives.

Jessica and Carin - Match Story |
Jessica and Carin were matched in 2002.
Jessica immediately took to Carin and looked forward to each outing. Jessica and Carin saw each other every week during the first year of their match. Soon after their 1-year anniversary, Carin announce the arrival of her first child. She was unsure whether to continue her match with Jessica. After speaking with Jessica and her mother, they all agreed to continue the match. Jessica was very excited to now have a “little sister” of her own! Jessica would visit with Carin, spending time with her and her child while also having their one to one special time.
Now, almost 4 years later, Jessica is a well-rounded 13 year old young lady. She has gained better control over her emotions, especially her anger. Jessica and Carin plan to see each other on a consistent and frequent basis and look forward to their friendship continuing to grow. They both know that they will always be part of each other’s lives. |
